A restaurant that has been recommended to me many times, and we finally got to try it. I wasn’t disappointed.

This was very good Italian style food, executed well with simple flavours. I look forward to a return visit. To start I went for a pasta dish smaller portion (you know like the Italians do) and it was immense. Tortellini filled with Spinach & Ricotta with sage butter and leaves. The picture does not do this dish justice and I will happily have this again next time. I am a big sage fan and this gave the dish a fresh depth of flavour. Fantastic.

I rarely eat fish, as my wife is not a seafoodie, so when we eat out and a fish dish catches my eye I find it hard to resist. The pesce grigliato miste was a mixed grilled fish dish of monkfish salmon and seabass – my favourite 3 fishes. I could not resist, despite the fact that meant there would be no sharing of main courses tonight.

All the fish was excellently cooked, with the delicate flavours of the bass going well with the sauce. Serve a northern lad chips and he’s happy and these were excellent skin on fries that were crispy and delicious when salted.

My wife ordered the pollo funghi and she enjoyed whilst professing her attention would go elsewhere on the menu next time, having watched me demolish the delicious pasta dish earlier.

The restaurant is excellent value and they run early bird set menu offers which at £12.95 for 2 courses is a bargain.

The restaurant is a bright and airy space with a family atmosphere. I really enjoyed Tiggi’s and can’t wait to go back.
