It’s time for our first featured moggy of 2019 whose human has kindly provided a bio and some photos. This time, we’re saying “Hello!” to:
Freya is a 3-year-old black domestic short-haired female, living in Hull with my friend and university flatmate, Becky. She spends her time both indoors and outdoors and enjoys sleeping on Becky’s dressing gown, which is always left for Freya to nap on instead of being hung up.
Freya, who was originally named Amber, was adopted from a local shelter. Her ‘new’ name comes from Norse mythology of the Goddess of love, sex, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death – covering all feline bases! When Becky visited the shelter, Freya was clinging to the bars of her enclosure and ‘yowling like a mad cat’ – helping Becky decide she was the one.
Freya, affectionately known as mogglechops and freyakins, loves her catnip flat rat and rat tutu toys and her favorite treats are dreamy, mayonnaise, pesto, and egg yolk! She’s a friendly cat who will go up to anybody if she thinks she will get a cuddle or some treats and meows a lot for attention and snacks. She is very purry and enjoys being picked up to see over Becky’s shoulder.
Freya enjoys her food, and once managed to pull a wood pigeon carcass from the food waste bin, leaving food all over the kitchen floor and the carcass of the pigeon completely decimated. She also likes to cause trouble by sitting on a ledge at the top of the staircase and swiping at Becky’s head as she walks up to the stairs.
Becky has had cats present throughout her life, including those of her Godmother, her Nan, and her brother, though it was a cat called Mog that adopted herself into Becky’s family that helped her fall in love with felines as a child. She loves that cats can be a source of companionship whilst also being independent creatures. Becky’s favorite part of being a cat owner is having Freya there at home to greet her and keep her company.
